What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative type of primary care model designed to be accessible and affordable. Instead of using health insurance, patients pay an affordable monthly subscription fee that pays for their primary care office visits. By removing the frustrations of insurance networks, DPC offices allow patients to have direct access to their doctor, while also giving doctors flexibility and time to focus on you, the patient. Patients receive care without the burden of co-pays, deductibles, or insurance limitations, which greatly simplifies the primary care experience. Patients of DPC practices have the option of getting lab tests and prescriptions at wholesale prices, often many times lower than what an insurance company may charge. Patients can use health insurance to see specialists, although DPC offices often have a list of no-insurance cash rates.
The DPC model has been around for more than 25 years, but it is a newer concept in Columbia, SC. Overall, DPC practices want to help patients receive the care they need when they need it, without insurance-associated frustrations or strain on the wallet. We like to think of DPC as old-fashioned care, using modern medicine. At Noreta Family Medicine, we build strong relationships with our patients, thoroughly address their concerns, and provide personalized care.
